Job Announcement: California State University, Fresno, Assistant Professor of French
Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures

Duties include teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses in the French language, as well as French and Francophone literatures and cultures; developing and enhancing appropriate curricular offerings; supervising and assisting student research; maintaining a productive research agenda, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and other professional activities; serving on department, college, and university committees; engaging in community service and outreach; interacting with faculty and students in related fields; supervising French language classes and instructors; and developing web-enhanced or web-based instruction. Required education: 1. Must have an earned doctorate in French, Francophone Studies, or other closely related disciplines from an accredited institution (or equivalent); 2. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for appointment, the doctorate must be completed by August 16, 2019. Required Experience: 1. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; 2. Native or near-native ability in French and English; 3. Ability to teach successfully all levels of language course and upper-division courses in literature and culture; 4. Evidence of scholarly research in the field, such as conference presentations, a dissertation topic that deals with Francophone literature, and/or publications.
