Adventures in Seattle

Note: Most of the sights below are within walking distance of the Hyatt Regency. For the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), take the Seattle Center Monorail. Built for the 1962 World’s Fair, it is a sight in its own right. Board at Westlake Center (5th Ave & Pine St), about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Trains run roughly every 10 minutes, and the ride straight to Seattle Center takes about three minutes. One-way adult fare is $4, and ORCA cards and contactless payment are accepted. Seattle Center also puts you within reach of the Olympic Sculpture Park (about a 15–20 minute walk downhill toward the water) and Kerry Park (a steep climb up Queen Anne Hill, or a short bus or rideshare). Check hours before heading back in the evening: from Sunday through Thursday, the last trains leave around 9:00pm.

Seattle Central Library
Rem Koolhaas and OMA’s landmark 2004 glass-and-steel building is as much an architectural pilgrimage as a library. Well worth a stop, even just to see the lobby and the continuous “Books Spiral” ramp.
1000 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104
