What is the Margaret H. Sedenquist International Scholarship Fund?

The Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association (PAMLA), a non-profit American humanities association established in 1903 and the Pacific coast affiliate of the Modern Language Association, is proud to announce the establishment of the Margaret H. Sedenquist International Scholarship Fund. The Margaret H. Sedenquist Fund will be used in part to assist foreign scholars attending the annual PAMLA conference.

Margaret H. Sedenquist was an entrepreneur, business owner, community leader, and philanthropist with deep roots in the American West. Margaret spent her life championing educational advancement and supporting the arts. Born and raised on a cattle ranch near Douglas, Wyoming, Margaret’s childhood fostered a deep understanding of self-sufficiency, an abiding love of family and community, and the knowledge that individuals working together can accomplish great things. She was generous with her time, expertise, and financial support of dozens of enterprises and organizations.

Thanks to the generous donation of an initial significant endowment in her name by her son, Mark Sedenquist (publisher of Imbrifex Books), and her daughter-in-law Megan Edwards (author of A Coin for the Ferryman), Margaret’s legacy of support of education and the arts will continue with the commencement of the Margaret H. Sedenquist International Scholarship Fund.
