PAMLA 2024: Transportation

2024 PAMLA Conference Transportation

The 2024 PAMLA Conference is being held entirely at the Riviera Resort Palm Springs, 1600 North Indian Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, California 92262 (1-760-327-8311). The resort is located just minutes north of the Palm Springs city center, and is easily accessible from I-10 (via CA-111).

Some buses and trains from Los Angeles or Fullerton to Palm Springs are available:

Amtrak offers a bus-to-train service at the PSP airport to/from Fullerton and Los Angeles. The bus stop is located at the north end of the terminal, in front of the Rental Cars ready lot. Amtrack’s website is www.amtrak.com or call (800) 872-7245.

Or perhaps check out Greyhound or FlixBus, if you want to get to Palm Springs from the LA or Orange County area without driving or flying:

We will also be adding our PAMLA/Whova conference app soon, to help those of you looking to carpool to the conference.

If you are flying to the conference, we’d advise avoiding flying into LAX, if at all possible. The drive from LAX to Palm Springs can take three to four hours, depending on traffic. Instead, try to fly into the Palm Springs Airport (PSP). Using Priceline, as an experiment, we found a $471 roundtrip from New York (LGA) to the Palm Springs Airport (PSP), using American and Alaska. We also found a roundtrip flight from Seattle to Palm Springs for $333, with one stop on the way there, and non-stop on the way back. And the Uber or Lyft ride from the Palm Springs Airport to Riviera is quite inexpensive and brief (under ten minutes). So, if you are flying to the conference, see if you can fly into the Palm Springs, California airport (PSP), searching for flights using both the Priceline and the Southwest Airlines websites (Southwest flights don’t get listed in Priceline’s flight searches), or individual airline websites.

If you can’t fly into the Palm Springs airport, the second best airport to fly into is the Ontario, CA airport (ONT). It is approximately a 75-minute drive from the Ontario, California Airport to Palm Springs. In comparison, driving from LAX to Palm Springs can take three or more hours. If you were to fly to Ontario, California, you could conceivably get an Uber to Riviera for approximately $100 each way (if you don’t want to rent a car).

If you have any questions about transportation to the conference, feel free to contact PAMLA Executive Director Craig Svonkin: [email protected] or 626-354-7526.
