PAMLA Saturday Night Live

As part of our 2018 Conference, PAMLA is sponsoring a three-part event on Saturday night, November 10, in downtown Bellingham. Do please join us for some of the wonderful cultural and entertainment opportunities Bellingham has to offer as you mix and mingle with your fellow PAMLA Conference attendees. There will be a complimentary shuttle between the Four Points by Sheraton Bellingham, the Holiday Inn & Suites Bellingham, and Aslan Depot in downtown Bellingham (a seven minute walk from the SPARK Museum and Mindport). In addition to terrific restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and ice cream shops, downtown Bellingham is the site of our three PAMLA Saturday Night Live events:

PAMLA’s second Saturday Night Live site is the SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention, a hands-on, interactive museum where we will have snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and where you’ll be able to explore a wealth of unique artifacts dating from the earliest days of scientific electrical experiments in the 1600s through the 1940s and the Golden Age of Radio. SPARK displays artifacts from the laboratories of the early pioneers of electricity, from magnets and Leyden jars to Edison light bulbs, vacuum tubes, telegraphs, rare music boxes, early phonographs, telephones, a Theremin (the first electronic musical instrument), and radios ranging from the early “Herzian-wave” devices to a complete set of Atwater Kent “breadboards.” SPARK’s collection also includes rare books, treatises, and scientific papers by authors such as Gilbert, Newton, Galileo, Benjamin Franklin, Volta, Hertz, and Marconi.

Be sure to come by at 8 pm, 9 pm, or 10 pm, for SPARK’s MegaZapper Electrical Show, with a demonstration of one of the largest Tesla Coil “Lightning Machines” in the US, which will create dazzling bursts of lightning on command.
