Proposing a Second Paper: Roundtables and Creative Sessions

Did you know that you may be eligible to present twice at the upcoming PAMLA 2026 conference in Seattle?

While PAMLA rules limit participants to presenting only one paper as part of a traditional panel, you are permitted to present a second piece of work if it is in a different session format, such as a Roundtable or a Creative Session.

Understanding Panel Designations vs. Formats

It is common to confuse a session’s administrative designation with its actual format. Panels are often categorized as either Standing (sessions that occur every year) or Special (sessions proposed and approved anew each year).

However, both standing panels and special panels are still traditional panels. Therefore, you may only present in one panel per conference year. If you wish to submit a second proposal for a roundtable or creative session, the topic must be substantially different from your panel paper.

How to Find Open Roundtables and Creative Sessions

There are currently more than 15 roundtables and several creative sessions open to proposals. To find a session that fits your work:

  • Visit the PAMLA CFP Submission Page.
  • Use the Keyword Search box to filter the results:
  • To find roundtables, type roundtable” into the box and click Go.
  • To find creative sessions, search for “creative.”
  • Important Check: Because many sessions use the word “creative” in their general descriptions, please look closely at the search results and verify that (Creative) appears in parentheses directly after the session title.

Submission Deadline

The CFP Extended Deadline remains open for these sessions until June 30, or until specific sessions fill. If you are interested in expanding your presence at this year’s conference, we encourage you to submit your secondary proposal as soon as possible.
