Step away from the panels on Friday and join fellow PAMLA attendees at the Seattle Art Museum for a self-guided visit, where you can explore the galleries at your own pace and compare notes with colleagues along the way!
About SAM
The Seattle Art Museum has anchored the city’s art scene since 1933, when it opened in the Art Deco building in Volunteer Park that now houses the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Today SAM spans three sites, and its downtown flagship gathers art from around the world under one roof, from Northwest Coast Native art to Mesoamerican, Andean, and Australian Aboriginal works. At $10, PAMLA attendees pay roughly a third of regular adult admission.

Getting there
SAM sits downtown at First Avenue and Union Street, roughly a 15–20 minute walk from the Hyatt. The walk runs downhill all the way there and uphill on the way back. You can’t miss the building: Jonathan Borofsky’s 48-foot Hammering Man swings his hammer outside. Pike Place Market lies just two blocks north, so you can turn your visit into a long lunch. Please arrange your own transportation to and from the museum. You can request a headset at the entrance. Feel free to stay on after the visit ends and keep exploring.
