PAMLA 2026 CFPs Open!

The 123rd Annual Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association (PAMLA) Conference will take place this November in Seattle, Washington, bringing together scholars from across the humanities for four days of lively exchange, new research, and interdisciplinary conversation.

Hosted at the Hyatt Regency Seattle, the conference will run from Thursday, November 12 through Sunday, November 15, 2026, offering an expansive programme of panels, seminars, and networking opportunities in one of the Pacific Northwest’s most dynamic cities. Further details about conference accommodations (including PAMLA’s special group rate at the Hyatt) will be announced soon.

The call for papers is now open, with 180+ session topics already available and more still to come!

PAMLA remains one of the most welcoming and wide-ranging academic conferences, making it an ideal venue for sharing work at any stage, from emerging projects to more developed research.

Paper proposals are due by May 25, 2026, and can be submitted via the official portal at pamla.ballastacademic.com.

As always, the strongest proposals clearly articulate a focused argument, situate that argument within a broader scholarly conversation, and demonstrate both a command of relevant research and a thoughtful methodological approach. Whether your work engages literature, film and media, cultural studies, or interdisciplinary methods, PAMLA offers an excellent space to present and receive meaningful feedback.

If you are looking for a collegial, intellectually engaged conference with a wide disciplinary reach, PAMLA 2026 promises to be an especially exciting gathering. We encourage you to consider submitting a proposal and joining us in Seattle this November, and look forward to seeing you there!
