As an independent nonprofit organization that receives no government or university funding, PAMLA thrives purely through the dedication and generosity of our vibrant community of scholars, artists, and friends. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to fostering the next generation of voices in the humanities, which is why every dollar donated to PAMLA goes directly toward supporting graduate students and international scholars through crucial travel awards. These scholarships grant vital access to the conference, as well as academic mentorship, professional networking, and global scholarly exchange.

- Make a Tax-Deductible Donation: Log into your PAMLA Portal, click the Donations tab, and enter your amount at checkout (numbers only, no $ sign). Alternative visit our Donation page for more information.

Graduate Student Scholarship
A limited number of scholarships, intended to help subsidize travel expenses, are available to graduate students presenting at the annual conference.

Margaret H. Sedenquist International Scholarship
Endowed to honor Margaret H. Sedenquist, this scholarship is intended to help assist a few international scholars each year to attend the annual PAMLA conference.

Paula Svonkin Creative Arts Award
Endowed to honor Paula Svonkin, this award will be given to a PAMLA member attending the annual PAMLA conference who has created a literary or visual work connected to the conference theme.

German Studies Grant
To assist young scholars of German language, literature, and culture. In honor of cherished colleagues including Gunter H. Hertling, Wolfgang Nehring, Jens Rieckmann, Thomas Saine, and Hans Wagener.

Catherine Montfort French Studies Scholarships
Endowed through the generosity of Dr. Catherine Montfort, these scholarships support scholars working in French language, literature, and culture. The Catherine Montfort International French Award assists one or more French scholars, authors, or artists attending and presenting at the annual PAMLA conference.
The Catherine Montfort French Graduate Student Scholarship provides support to graduate students in French studies who are presenting at the conference.
