The PAMLA 2025 Conference is being held entirely in-person at the modern, luxurious, 4-star InterContinental San Francisco Hotel, situated next to the magnificent Moscone Convention Center and a short stroll away from the city’s most iconic museums, restaurants, bars, shops, nightlife, and cultural landmarks.

The special nightly PAMLA room rate at the InterContinental San Francisco Hotel is: $179 plus 17.695% tax per night; or $210.67 total per night including taxes; the nightly Urban Destination fee will be waived at check-in). A brief 8-minute walk from the Powell Street Bart Station and the Fisherman’s Wharf cable cars, the InterContinental San Francisco offers guests convenient access to public transit.
If you are flying into San Francisco, do try to fly into San Francisco International Airport (SFO), a lovely airport and a convenient BART ride (via the Red or Yellow BART lines) to the Powell Street Bart Station, which is an 8-minute walk away from the InterContinental.
The PAMLA conference hotel, the InterContinental San Francisco Hotel (888 Howard St.) is not the similarly named but different InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco, located in Nob Hill. Be sure to make a reservation, via the official PAMLA link below, at the correct hotel.
There will be no virtual or hybrid sessions or papers–the entire conference is being held in-person. Papers may not be read in absentia.

Room reservations may also be made by contacting the Reservations Department at IHG Central Reservations, 1-866-781-2364. You’ll need to identify yourself as attending the PAMLA conference at the InterContinental Hotel San Francisco to receive our special group rate. (If they don’t recognize the PAMLA name, try our full name: Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association, so as to receive the special PAMLA rate.)
Check-in/Check-out Procedure:
Hotel check in time is 4:00pm on the day of arrival and check out time is 11:00am the day of departure.
Should you have to cancel your room reservation, be sure to cancel your reservation with the hotel at least 48 hours prior to arrival, or the first night’s room and tax will be charged.
The deadline for securing a room at the special PAMLA room rate is Monday, October 27th; however, hotel rooms usually sell out well before that date, so do not delay in making your reservation!
The InterContinental San Francisco Hotel is a single-use plastic-free hotel, pet-friendly and smoke-free, with daily housekeeping, a fitness center, and a lovely indoor pool and an onsite restaurant and bar.
Room service is available every day from 6:30 am until 2 pm; and again from 4-10 pm, until 11 pm on Wednesdays through Saturdays.
On-site valet parking is available for PAMLA attendees at a deeply discounted rate ($40 per car night inclusive of tax for PAMLA attendees), including EV chargers. (This is more than a 50% discount from the normal non-PAMLA parking rate.)
PAMLA attendees who reserve through our portal (please be sure to do so to receive a special rate and these perks) will receive the following:
- Parking at $40.00 per car per night inclusive of tax (valet parking; more than $40 off the normal parking rate).
- The Urban Destination Fee of $35 will be waived.
- Those with IHG Rewards are eligible for points.
- Each room has a television, a safe, a Keurig coffee and tea maker, a mini-fridge, and a bathroom and comfy bed or two, depending on your room type reservation.
- A talented concierge is on call Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 8 am until 4 pm.
- Access to the hotel’s indoor pool from 6 am until 10 pm daily.
- Access to hotel’s complimentary fitness center: 24 hours every day.
