If you could check to see where your session or sessions are, that would be a great help. Also, if you could plan ahead when it comes to AV for your session, and perhaps come up with an alternative to AV, just in case of problems, that would be a great help as well.

2015 PAMLA Conference Forum: “Blur and Focus; Musicality in Film and Poetry"

This year’s PAMLA Conference Forum, to be held on Saturday, November 7, in the Hilton Portland’s Parlors room (on the Ballroom Level), from 5:20-7 pm, will feature, together on stage for the first time, two of the Pacific region’s most influential intellectual and creative figures, Fred Moten and David James. The Forum, entitled “Blur and Focus; Musicality in Film and Poetry,” will range from classic film musicals to Woodstock, and from Stokely Carmichael to contemporary opera.

Presidential and Plenary Address Conference Luncheons

We will be hosting two lovely and fascinating luncheons at the 2015 PAMLA Conference: the Friday, November 6th Presidential Address Luncheon, featuring PAMLA President Heidi Schlipphacke, and the Saturday, November 7th Plenary Address Luncheon, featuring Plenary Speaker, Kara Keeling (both luncheons will be located at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower). The luncheons do cost an additional fee ($29), but each Address Luncheon is sure to be a highlight of the conference.

PAMLA Conference Accommodations Information

Our 2015 PAMLA Conference will be held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 6-8, 2015, at two lovely three-star hotels right in downtown Portland:

  • The Hilton Portland & Executive Tower
  • The Portland Marriott City Center

Sessions will be located in these two hotels, which are approximately a five minute walk apart. We have therefore arranged for extremely reasonable PAMLA room rates at both hotels.

Congratulations to PAMLA member Janet Boyd for the publication of her 2014 co-edited essay collection on Gertrude Stein: Primary Stein: Returning to the Writing of Gertrude Stein. Co-edited by Janet Boyd and Sharon J. Kirsch, with essays by Adam Frank, E.L. McCallum, Jody Cardinal, Kristin Bergen, former PAMLA President Steven Gould Axelrod, Linda Voris, Nancy Kuhl, Neil Schmitz, Phoebe Stein, and Boyd and Kirsch themselves, Deborah Mix of Ball State said of the colection: "This is a terrific collection—lucid, wide ranging, and rich.
