Persian Literature and Culture

Presiding Officer:
Parwana Fayyaz, University of Cambridge

This special session is intended for scholars interested in the study of Persian literary and cultural works. We are open to a wide array of topics about Persian Literature and Culture, but are particularly interested in papers that have cross references to philosophical and Sufi mystical ideas on the representation of and role played by God (in the form of manifestation) in the human world. For example, papers that study the history of ideas through Persian poetry would be most welcome. In other words, we invite works that introduce and study topics concerning the integration of philosophical ideas (from Greek and Zoroastrian traditions) with mystical Islam in the rebirth of the classical and medieval Persian literature, mainly in the field of poetry and poetics.
