Alternative Communities in Hispanic Literature and Culture

Presiding Officer:
Javier F. González, California State University, Channel Islands

We invite proposals on alternative communities in Hispanic (Latin America and Spain) literature and culture. Alternative communities consist of circles of artists, intellectuals, cults, and marginal urban dwellers, among others, that have existed either in fictional or historical form. Their existence helps define the “other side” of official institutions and notions of national, social, or cultural identity.
