Queering Terror

Presiding Officer:
Stephanie Gibbons, University of Washington - Seattle

If the post-9/11 moment associated terror with region and religion, how have events—Katrina and Ferguson, the Great Recession and Greek austerity, climate change and uprisings—mutated our understanding of the term? Can terror be a useful model for thinking through racialized and gendered violence, normalized extremism, and neoliberal policies?
